Survival

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As Ollie lies in his sick bed
A different fight for him instead
For Shels he usually upsets stillness
But now it’s his own serious illness
It puts our game into perspective
This ain’t the time for the invective

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’m sure the man has some regrets
The wages, stars, the cigarettes
The risks he took were surely folly
But if people didn’t care like Ollie
How would our clubs even survive?
They wouldn’t without Ollies drive.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He has been know to lose his cool
Manys the time he’s looked a fool
The rule book is his Holy Bible
As well as all the laws of libel
His past has not been void of faults
Aggravations nor assaults.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 So he hasn’t reached that state of grace
But heart surely in the right place
The club he lives for now in tatters
But even that’s not what now matters
With him & Shels fighting for life
I truly hope ye both survive

Notes

One of our leagues more colourful characters, Mr Ollie Byrne of Shelbourne is seriously ill in hospital while the club he has fought so resiliently for lies in ruins. Just goes to show how someones health puts this game of ours into perspective, Get Well Soon Ollie.
