Swapping blurts with Shakespeare

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Claudio is the great friend to Hero
(in Much Ado About Nothing)
but to us
we must create a fuss
for he is undoubtedly, our Hero
taking us from zero, to conquerors
with his amusing ways
and a team that plays
with gumption.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It is our assumption
that when we heard him say
“To be, or not to be, that is the question?”
that he was not quoting the great bard
but cautiously fielding an inquiry from a curious commentator
who wanted to know if it would be
Toby (Alderweireld of Spurs), or our own Wes Morgan
who would hold aloft, a blue and white ribboned Premiership trophy.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But for all the accolades to our hero
it must not go unnoticed
that certain quotes have also rallied our troops.
Not so much these:
“Full bravely hast thou flesh’d
Thy Maiden sword”

or
“Whither ye not
For courage mounteth with occasion”

or the killer quote:
“Alas poor Premiership, thou hast
entertain’d a Fox to be the shepherd of thy lambs!”

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 No, but a certain Mr Shakespeare has been a-rousing with:
“By my troth
Don’t give them an inch of space!”

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 “For Fuchs’ sake –
Get stuck in!”

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 “Bobby Huth – the arms are fair
When the intent of baring them is just!”

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 And so we must
give thanks that our own particular wordsmith
is craggy and not barred!

Notes

Never, ever, underestimate the value of a club’s backroom staff.

Conspiracy theory #1
Given the year that’s in it, wherever Craig Shakespeare was coaching, success was sure to follow!!

This poem – a paean to Claudio’s right hand man!
