Sweet Talking

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Our sugar daddy dissolved
into tears of frustration, speculation and rumour
Sweet dreams just a holiday fantasy
No grains of comfort in a failed takeover

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Fans were spun a web of confusion
A confection of plans and denials
Twenty million on offer? We smell a rat
Or maybe it’s just the urinals

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 If money talks, it didn’t say much
Concern is, that all else is lost
Once fans suffered long, but held wise
Now they chase success at any cost

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Whatever the truth behind this debate
Loyalty cannot be bought
Rich businessmen are destroying our game
Their interest lies not in sport

Notes

I preferred the days when all you had to worry about pre-season was getting hold of the Shoot! cardboard league tables and the team tabs.
When the teams were put into alphabetical order it was a fair indication of where Norwich City would probably finish up – in the bottom half…
