that you’ve often heard,
and how you know it’s not right
when it’s the opposite of white

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Tell me a name
you heard at the game,
that left sensibilities shredded
sneering at parents unwedded

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 May your blushes be spared
when the words are paired,
but let the condemning ensue
from more than the mouths, of just a few

inspired by his poem ‘Conundrums’

Uriah Rennie springs instantly to mind.

Anybody who is mad enough to be a referee, has my admiration anyway.

But somebody like Uriah, who has to put up with even more insults than other referees, because of the colour of his skin – he gets my total respect.

Doesn’t mean I always agree with his every decision though!

But hollering “I disagree, referee!” – is far more poetic than the disgraceful insult this poem alludes to.
