Tackling the Poet: answering the Big Hewer

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Tackling the Poet

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I found a neighbour rummaging my rubbish
running away with my unconsidered trifles
magpie at my window eyeing the brassware
assaying for metaphors and messages
signs and symbols, secrets and lies
Stuart the scavenger Shelly sharpening pencils

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Meeting up the pub I’m bitter, rum, and dry
whilst he’s imbibing more semiotic fluids
panning the ramblings to pen the nuggets
golden grist for the fast fingers the expert eye.
full of daring thoughts perfectly expressed
kicking balls in his Engerland vest

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He walks the doggerel up the hill
he kicked the ink now watch it spill
uncorking the flow stopped in primary
returning the borrowings in poetry
but F.A. still means nothing to me
I tackle the poet and let the football be
