2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 oh for sure, he’s not involved
in the passage of play
or the heavy tackle
or sublime pass

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 his foot doesn’t battle
with the physics
of studs and sinews
to produce motion and force

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 his mind doesn’t meld
to produce a paradigm
of passion, punditry
and plundered oppportunities

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 his genius doesn’t grapple
with the girth of the game
from frozen tundra
to the searing Sahara

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 none of the above –
that we know of;
yet with certitude
we cannot attribute …….

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 the conception of canto
the hypothesis of haiku
the dogma of doggerel
nor the nurturing of rhyme ……

where we have localised lyrics
published in the match programmes
or fanzines

sending some satirical stanza

though benign
would be somewhat
clandestine

to the framework of communications
that this man pioneered

a network of networks
a tool for fools (and unearthed talents)

have the capability
to fuse the frisson of football
within the planetary purlieu of poetry
