as the match unfolds….
I didn’t even see the goals
but those second half roles
spoke volumes
and I could see the score
and heard no roar
but the tension was taut
Belgium fraught
but the technicality from both sides
gave us a spectacle
so sumptuous
such a beautifully open game
embraced by two teams willing
to produce spine-chilling
moments

Italy 2 – 1 Belgium

Apologies to Gary Lightbody

The title?

I surfed channels after the game, and alighted on the genius of Gary Lightbody and Snow Patrol.

I caught a fab concert from Baloise Sessions, Switzerland; enjoyed: “Drive”; the poem title, & “Just Say Yes”.

As genius as Insigne!

And yes, I missed the first half…. family duties.
I don’t often like to watch from 2nd half onwards, preferring to watch the whole game live, later, or even highlights without knowing the score, but this was different, this was special!
