That Goal

in a few words
“Se para todo”.
That is what happened  in Johanesburg
and how he spoke about the event.
He put the ball in
the Dutch keeper’s net to say
“Se para todo.”
One poem dedicated to
the same event
told us about the desperate
goalkeeper’s parade.
Remember also Andres shirt
dedicated to Dani Jarque
the Espanyol FC player
who had passed away.
“Everything stopped
and only myself and the ball
were there”
Iniesta said about
his World Cup decisive
goal.

Notes

There is something fantastic in the story about Iniesta goal against Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup Final. It seems at the first sight that he was expected to celebrate the goal with the t-shirt’s message “Dani Jarque siempre con nosotros” but who would have predicted it would happen after the only goal at the end of extra time.It still needed to happen. Wasn’t it?
But when Iniesta was celebrating with such special shirt we would have thought it was certain to happen. But it was still the match.Was it also the moment to unite the divided Spain as Iniesta was Barcelona player and Dani Jarque the tragic player of theirs arch rivals Espanyol.
Dany Jarque tragically passed away in 2009 in the hotel in Italy during the club’s pre-season preparations.
In one documentary about that match Iniesta described his goal with the words in Spanish
“Se para todo y estamos solo yo y el balon”
He spoke that he heard nothing. Only the silence when the ball came to him.He speaks about the goal in the way the film maker would speak about the scene.The shoot into the the net was followed by that silence.My delirious idea as the fan is that he would see the word “parada” in my poem Intuition and Iniesta to pronounce “se para todo” when speaking about that moment he was about to score that goal in Johanesburgh.
