That’s Me in the Spotlight…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I thought you were a decent chap.
How could you let them win?
Don’t give me all that “free will” crap.
Don’t talk to me of sin.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I bet you never heard a single
Word that I was saying.
I bet you never felt a tingle
When the teams were playing.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I prayed to you throughout the game,
With gnashing and with weeping.
I imprecated in your name,
But you were likely sleeping.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Religion’s a two-way concern,
It’s full of quid pro quos.
I worship you, and in return,
You let us humble Bohs.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Instead of which, you let us lose.
You do not intervene.
You have the most frustrating views
That I have ever seen.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 You will not play it down the line.
You’re cheating and you’re swindling.
No wonder you are in decline
And congregations dwindling.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 A four-nil win would not have hurt,
It wouldn’t have been a strain.
But no, “We must remain inert.
We must not seek to gain.”

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Well, sod that, God! I’ve had enough.
Your mildness makes me shudder.
I’m through with all that niceness stuff,
I’m off to follow Buddah.

Notes

Shels lost 3-1 at home to Bohemians tonight. We were brutal. After leading the league for 28 games, we have now slipped into second place behind Bohs. I am drunk. It is God’s fault.
