The Ball

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The whistle blows,
They kick the ball,
Sailing through the air,
Skimming someone’s hair,
Like a bullet at a firing range.
Over the stadium wall it flies,
Up and up, higher and higher.
Down below,
The players, like strands of wire,
Looking up, they see it disappear,
The crowds stare harder and harder,
Straining for a final glimpse.
