The Bhoy Who Lived the Dream

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 My dream was, that one day;
I would play at Celtic Park
And pull on the green & white jersey
That others have played for, from the heart.
I dreamt that I would walk from Lurgan,
Make my way along the Gallowgate,
The path that many an Irishman,
Has traveled since the year of 1888.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I dreamt of the faith and passion
That is reared in every Celtic fan
That my father introduced to me
While growing up in the streets of Lurgan.
My apprenticeship into football
Led me to Crewe and Leicester City,
But my dreams and hopes, they fed my soul,
That I would one day wear, a Celtic jersey.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But then, Celtic Park became my home
In December of the millennium year,
And from Lurgan in County Armagh,
I could hear my father shout and cheer.
I would give my heart and soul to Celtic,
Of every minute of every game,
I walked the miles of sectarian abuse
That flowed from those down Ibrox way.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I felt the spirits of Peacock and Tully,
Standing together by my side
Who whispered that every Ulster man
Should be proud to wear the green& white.
I have celebrated five championship seasons
In my seven years at Celtic Park,
But the loss to Porto in Seville,
That truly broke my heart.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I have worn with pride the famous hoops,
‘For the Jersey’, I have played,
My commitment has been to Celtic’s cause,
While being a scapegoat to what the media say.
When I was young, I had a dream,
To play at the Holy Ground, on Park head’s pitch,
I lived the dream that young boys pray for,
For seven with pride, I wore the green & white strip.
