When the deeds from their boots were given new songs
We hand stitched their names on our banners and flags
Histories and poems and Joey Munchen Gladbach!

When Byrne broke his collar bone and Don Revie’s heart
To the tears of Herrera when outwitted by Shanks
For the redmen put 3 past the mighty Inter-Milan

But they didn’t fool Tommy Lawrence between the sticks
Tommy Smith and Geoff Strong made it 2 for the reds
Smithy’s goal from his boots and Geoff’s from his brave head

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 There’s the lad Kevin Keegan a fine number 7
When he put 2 past the magpies they cheered up in heaven
And in Rome a new Caesar in 77 was crowned
The European Cup brought to Anfield, its rightful home found.
