The British Museum and Football

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Lost in the British Museum;
Hung-over;
Drowning in a sea of knowledge,
Clutching at antiquities from across the world,
Windblown by classification,
Wave tossed by categorisation,
Run aground on collectibles,
Press ganged by philanthropists,
Captained by capitalists,
Instructed by imperialists;
When you think about it,
Is the pursuit of knowledge
So very different
From the life of a football fan?

Notes

My wife and daughters went sales shopping. I went to the Museum. I couldn’t face Oxford Street. No self respecting Swindon supporter could possibly shop in such a street with such a name.
