It wasn’t depression over satellite TV
It was a trusty football club – dear Cov

They started punching above their weight
Coventry qualified for the Fairs Cup
Everything on the pitch looked great

Came with a man called Jimmy Hill
He brought happy times to Highfield Road
With a big heart, a chin and skill

That’s football – up and down
The ‘egg timer’ shirt worst in history
Retro before retro began – in chocolate brown

In ’78 winning the FA Cup
Fast forward to Boxing Day twenty-eleven
Three more points on the board! Things are looking up…

Hope yesterdays result brought much needed cheer to Coventry fans.
Coventry City always seemed to be dicing with relegation when I was a kid but they always seemed to escape. They were part of the top flight – First Division – and I wouldn’t have imagined their demise anymore than believe Norwich City would be in League One in 2009/10.

Coventry – three points on Boxing Day – the comeback begins!
