The Deep Fat Friar

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The football sailed over the monastery wall,
Where the monks were all deep in reflection,
But Brother Alphonsus caught sight of the ball,
And carefully watched it’s trajection.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He sprinted, in spite of his sizable girth,
Around the well-kept flowerbed.
And he lifted his foot as the ball fell to earth,
And he skilfully trapped it stone dead.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The religious fraternity stared at each other,
As if bould Alphonsus were drunk,
Forgetting, of course, that their well-rounded brother
Had once been a fine Trappist monk.
