But sleep it cannot bring
The night that bids its phoenix home
But will not heal its wings,

What songs are these that pull me now
Like ships across the sea
And call out to the restless child
With words of mystery

But sullen still the childish heart
To turn its eyes away
And frozen like the frost that grips
And leads the sun astray

Yet sweeter thoughts than these are here
But sweeter thoughts soon flee
Across my heart on to to the place
They always longed to be

So moon pour down your silver thread
And let your magic fall
And bring to me the warmth I crave

The Liverbird exotic breed
Her memories turn to times

And Rome where Kings once ruled
Dortmund Wembley share with all
The dreams of Istanbul.
