The Fair Weather Supporter

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When there’s no clouds in the sky,
When the sun is shining bright,
And my Team is riding high,
There I am.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 There I am, there I am,
On the Terrace, in the Stand,
Singing, shouting, clapping hands,
There I am.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 When a proud open-top bus
Drives through town with Shield or Cup,
Hemmed in by a joyful throng,
I am there.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I am there, I am there,
When the weather’s nice and fair,
Rest assured, I get my share,
Get my share of glory, kudos and prestige.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But when dark clouds fill the sky,
When the sun is not in sight,
And my Team is on the slide,
Where am I?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 When the weather’s filthy foul,
And my Team is going down,
In which sector of the Ground
Am I found?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Not on Terrace or in Stand,
It’s as if I had been banned,
Or some wily, wicked witch had waved a magic wand,
And made me vanish quite into thin air!

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 I like sun and sweet Success,
Can’t abide it when it’s wet,
When it pours with rain,
And I get soaked in water.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 I like shiny Silverware,
Not lean times and cupboards bare,
That’s why I’m called
A Fair Weather Supporter.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 29/9/07

Notes

I was prompted to write this poem after reading on the Everton fansite, Toffeeweb an article by Alan Purcell entitled I admit to being a Fair Weather Supporter – but why not?
