When someone loses face
When a well known, well liked, guy or girl
Fails to finish in the race

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It’s rarely the winner who winks and wallows,
The scorer of all the goals
The girl with the stunning looks and style
The guy with the ‘Merc’ or ‘Rolls’

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The biggest smirks come from life’s loser
Pleased to see someone fall
The guy or girl whose successes in life
Are few or none at all

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It’s a bit like that with football fans
The real fans of the game
On seeing the mighty Leeds go down
Will just think: “What a shame!”

Will revel in their plight
And scream with their usual dignity
“Serves the b……s right”

Gave Leeds back their pride
And a smile and a nod of acknowledgement
Were something I couldn’t hide

Before the Leeds of seventy-two
Drove me to despair

Which I hope we’ll see again
