The fight

you let them talk,
they called you weak,
your mind was strong,
they booed you,
you stood up tall,
they eyeballed you,
you did not balk,
they won the toss,
you did not care,
they wore your colours,
you did not fear,
they kicked you,
you did not fall,
they swore at you,
you let them call,
they hurt you,
you did not wince,
they threw punches,
you did not flinch,
they took a dive,
you helped them up,
they put on their best,
you still were tough,
they battered and smashed,
you kept them from,
they started to tire,
then you raised your own,
we raised you on,
and they still defy,
the victory we won,
and now they cry,
our time had come,
and now you see,
how the fight was won.
