1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Have to say I’m looking really good
seeing I’ve had a few months away,
any rough edges have now gone
just in time for the kick off on Saturday.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’ve been out in all types of weather
been battered by Sun, Wind and Rain,
but even though I am weather beaten
I’m ready for this season’s long campaign.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Over the years footballers have run all over me
so I guess it helps to have a masochistic streak,
but when you’re a pitch you just get on with it
even though you get roughed up every other week.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But it’s tough though being a football pitch
just laying there without making a sound,
but it’s what I always wanted to be
and at least I don’t pay to get in the ground.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So please players try and be gentle with me
as I’m not getting any younger you know,
it’s not a bad life when the Sun is out
but I hate it when I’m covered in Snow !

I thought I’d do a poem on a subject that never gets much attention.
