The Fourth Grace

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 might have been fitted in somehow after all
down at the Pier Head, don’t you think? Recall
the architect’s design that called for it to look
like a deflated old football of brown leather

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 straight from Daisy in the pasture. Might have been
a memorial to all the footballers who played in the city
for the Reds or Blues, all the lads in parks who ever kicked
a ball, using blazers and satchels for goalposts.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Deflated is right! A monstrosity to detract
from the classic three: the Liver Buildings,
Cunard Building, Mersey Docks and Harbor Board.
Three beauteous brides never needed no bridesmaid.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Christopher T. George
