The Friendlies

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s the first sign of a new season
when all the new players are on show
yes it’s here the first of the friendly games
but you’re thinking shall I bother to go ?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The local paper though is building it up
even telling you how to get there
but when you mention it to your mate
he shrugs as if he doesn’t really care.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 So I think I may give it a miss myself
give the new ones time to settle in
anyway these games are more about fitness
so who cares if they lose or win ?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Last year the club went to Portugal pre season
which meant they could train on the sand
but now they’re a League One outfit
they have to brace themselves for chilly Scotland.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So as the Ricoh is an Olympic’s Football venue
and all the friendlies are being played away
I’ve decided to save up my money
and go to Yeovil on the season’s opening day !

Notes

I usually watch a couple of friendlies at the Ricoh Arena but as it’s hosting Olympic matches all of them will be played away.

As for away matches this season we will be playing at smaller grounds than in the Championship, so ticket allocation will be less than usual.

Coventry have a good following on their travels so many will miss out I guess now, which rams it home even more how getting relegated is not only bad for clubs, but for the hardcore fans as well.

Editor’s note:
Hi Kevin – will you be going to any of the Olympic matches in the Ricoh Stadium?

Will there be many Coventry fans going, do you think? Is there much interest locally?
