The Happiness We Seek

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We are the men of any town.
We come here once a week
To remind ourselves we’ve almost found
The happiness we seek.
For some clubs want the F.A. Cup
And some want even more,
Some clubs want to just stay up
And some just want to score.
But the days will roll into the nights
As nights roll into days,
And this age will lose us from its sights
For the next has its own ways.
So give your dreams a rest an hour
And join us for a drink,
For it seems to us your wine’s turned sour;
Your club is on the brink.
We’ll give your tale an end that’s sound;
An end that isn’t bleak,
To remind ourselves we’ve almost found
The happiness we seek.
