The Highbury Jinx Is Laid To Rest

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The Library is silent
As Robben turns and twists
The North Bank is an island
Now twenty points adrift

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We’ve put a fifteen year old ghost to bed
That of Bermondsey’s Johnny B
The last Blue boy to score the winner
At that hallowed Highbury

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We’ve done the double with no trouble
We’ve matched them and we’ve fought
To break the indian sign they held over us
Or at least that’s what they thought

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A perfectly good goal was disallowed
I’m sure you would agree
But all of that is yesterdays news
Now we’ve won at Highbury

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Some days the luck is with you
Some days it is not
But today was just a great team win
As the Gooners lost the plot

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 With Joey Cole on a roll
We soon made it two nil
As Wenger held his head in his hands
It must have made him ill

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Our manager has let us down
With a show of disrespect
To offer your hand to the other bloke at the end
Is what true fans expect

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Has the chosen one lessons to learn
About the English game
About how to set a good example
About how to handle fame?

Notes

Fifteen years since Johnny Bumstead scored the winner at Highbury, we at long last win a league game there! About blimmin time too!

Not, it has to be said, without some controversy as there usually is with these type of games, but hey, some you win some you lose, over the course of the season it usually balances itself out or does it?

Jose took the shine off a trully great team performance by apparantly declining to shake the hand of Arsene Wenger at the end of the game, that kind of stuff if true we don’t need.

After all it is supposed to be the season of good will?

peace.

kev.
