The Human Zoo

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Hands tearing away at that fence till they virtually bled.
No vital cutting gear made available to use instead.
Fences that where designed not to give way with ease.
Innocent fans trapped till they died despite their pleas.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Imposing railings with emergency exits far too few.
A steel barricade erected to create a human zoo.
Emergency procedures neglected, they mean to contain.
The fences that caused death on The Leppings Lane.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 All such fences then dismantled, no longer the law.
It took a tragedy to be treated like humans once more.
So when safely at the match now with your perfect view.
Remember the victims that made that possible for you.

Notes

I’m currently working on a new Hillsborough poetry book, this new poem may be included in that…thanks for reading.

Editor’s note:
Good luck with the book, Mike, it’s a very worthy cause, our hearts and minds with the victims and their families forever.

YNWA.

(Other books I’ve been involved in are available online or from the publishers countyvise.co.uk)
