The Last Line Of Defence!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Where are the boys?
Blimey that noise
That’s another i’ve tipped round the post

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’m trying to stay cool
But only a fool
Would stand here like this on his own

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Ahh..that last shot really hurt
I’m down in the dirt
The boys give me a pat on the back

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 As I bounce on the line
I’ve this strength in my mind
As the Arsenal mount another attack

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Cor…. that one was close
Came right back off the post
Straight up I thought I was beaten

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Oops…. fumbled that one
It’s been cleared by someone
To safety, I was almost caught sleeping

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Bobby’s just scored
So we’re heading toward
A valuable three point away win

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Oh no here they come
At us out of the sun
To try and grab a Champions League rating

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Lor… that one stung me fingers
The throbbing still lingers
How much longer can we ward them off?

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Er…this one looks high
I might have to try
To see if I can cut out this cross

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 Its just me and him
It’s gone past me it’s in,
Great! it’s just scraped off the post

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 That’s it, full time
We’ve held out for a fine
Win, that was what you’d call….close!

Notes

These are my version of the thoughts of Robert Green, as he played, what at times looked like, alone against the Arsenal, last weekend, in one of the most courageous displays of goalkeeping that I’ve seen for ages.

Wenger said afterwards, “We could and should have scored ten” he forgot to mention or praise, as is usual, the brave display of the other sides custodian.

I don’t think that Green is a Londoner, but as he plays for a team in the East End of London, thats how his thoughts come to have some proper
cockney sayings in them!
