The Lions Three Are Ready

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The stadia can be half built.
The subway can be striking.
Qatar could scar the game with guilt
while mercury is spiking,
but we’ll still turn it on to see
and hold the remote steady.
Gerrard has given his decree:
The Lions Three are ready.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Sao Paulo might not be that safe
and Rio is concerning;
favelas boiling near the beaches,
tear gas cans are burning.
The airports might be much too small,
the power grid unsteady,
but we will overlook it all
if Lions Three are ready.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The sponsors might offend a bit,
while refs and players fudge it,
but we know at the end of it,
there’s just one way we’ll judge it:
decisions made and players played
in coming days so heady.
How we have prayed for this crusade
the Lions Three are ready.
