the magic of money

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 it’s not about the magic of pulling on the shirt
it’s not about the fear of maybe geting hurt
it’s not about the glory its not about the dream
it’s not about the loyalty it isnt for the team
it’s not about the staying up or even going down
it’s all about just cleaning up before it comes around
before they come and say to you ….thats yer lot sonny
it’s all about one thing – i’m talkin bout money

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 it’s not about the shivers just stepping on the pitch
the only thing that tingles me – is how i’m getting rich
an i don’t go all ga-ga about the hallowed turf
the only thing that moves me is what i’m flipping worth –
it’s not about the Final or Wembley’s long gone towers
it’s more about the chauffeurs the champagne and the flowers
it’s all about illusion and what i’m paid to wear
the adverts and the spin-offs and how i cut my hair –
you talk about your popstars in the land of milk and honey
i ain’t ashamed to bleed the game – im talkin bout money

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 it’s not about the pundits who understand the game
who missed out on the millions the glory and the fame
its all about a five year plan plan or maybe six years tops
to sort it for a lifetime and then the hassle stops
and then you sit and think about those working class supporters
who worked all night for crap team strips to clothe their sons&daughters
and all those fans who travelled miles in snow and wind and rain
and stood out in the open to cheer you on again
who talked about you all their life wherever they might be
at work in France or Mexico or up some flipping tree
who saved up evry penny to buy their fifteenth shirt
to every season see it chucked with others in the dirt
who worshipped you and lauded you as though you were a friend
who swallowed pride and cried inside right there until the end

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 and should you think me arrogant or fell my views are funny
remember they’re all paid for too- im talkin bout money

Notes

Dedicated to the god and goddess of money who keeps this beautiful game of ours elitist and exclusive and make it the wonderful (rich) People’s Game that it has become.
