The Match Was Insignificant!

Agin the team who were champions elect
Till the racist bigots in the home end
Broke out with their stupid animal chants
Then all chances of them winning were wrecked

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The second period of play had barely started
With strong tackles and quite physical stuff
When the highly lauded African Footballer of the Year
Strode to the touchline and said “That’s enough”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He held up the arm of the home team player
To signify we both are alike
But still the animal noises continued
In what for our sport was a terrible night

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The game was brought to a standstill
As the idol did plead to come off
As players from both teams begged
For him to think again
The racists just stood there and scoffed

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 After a while and with some trepidation
The idol thought fit to stay on
Tis fitting that he made a great cross from the wing
That the striker dispatched with aplomb

By a comfortable two goals to nil
But in truth there were no winners on this night
But the sad sickness of this whole ordeal

Was this played in a South African township
No it was Real Zaragoza V Barcelona
And the year of the game? 2006!

To drive out this racism cancer
If the past is anything to go by
Not much at all is the answer?

A slap on the wrist from EUFA
Tis time we came down heavy on such vitriolic racist abuse
Then our stadiums might be a lot safer

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 If it was one fan he or she’d be ejected
But thousands were shown guilty of this
Shut down the ground relegate the team
Make it clear what the penalty for this is
There just is no way that anyone today
Should have to tolerate abuse such as this!

Its all in the poem and was very sad and sickening to see there on our mainstream tv.

Big up to Samuel Eto’o for staying on the pitch when lesser men might have taken that walk and thought “Do I really need this sh.. week after week?”
