THE MOON PULLED ON HIS FOOTBALL BOOTS

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The moon pulled on
His football boots
The sun went in the goal
And Pluto, Mars and Jupiter
Were Beckham, Keane
And Scholes
The pitch was night
The stand was day
The oceans made
The crowd
The substitutes
A ragged bunch
Of rainbows,
Hail and clouds!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The moon he played
With speed and verve
With skills sublime
And sweet
Pass and move his rhythm wise
And play the ball
To feet
With every touch
A masterpiece
Of grace of strength
Of nerve
And when they asked:
“How do you feel?”
He grinned: “ Over the earth!”
