The Never Forgotten Few

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Not every victim had a candle lit in their name.
Not everyone is remembered on the eternal flame.
The names written on the flags are incomplete.
Though they may seem right to the man in the street.
The amount of balloons released was in numbers short.
People think of ’96’ angels but more were sought.
When bells ring 96 times, there should be more chimes.
A list of the victims names should contain more lines.
Over time God has had more than 96 souls to bless.
Names you may not know, but deserve our respect no less.

Notes

Thanks to other footie fans that have contribute Hillsborough related poems, your support and concern is really appreciated by myself and all fellow reds…cheers!

This short poem is about survivors of the disaster who took their own life after struggling for years with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Such victims are not part of the recognised ’96’ but are remembered and respected just the same.

Thanks for reading.
