The New Stanley Mathews

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Somewhere among the stuff not seen a while
hides a lace-up roundish brick
that makes todays stringless curlers look like feathers
and after forty five minutes of inflation
it could not be kicked off the ground.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It was found in the seventies or eighties
in a dustbin or a skip
or a house that Dad was working in
and was brought home for the feet
of the new Stanley Mathews.
