The Offside of Life

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When you hear the final whistle
You know that it’s official
Your club is relegated right enough
You’re feeling blue, it’s true
But there’s nothing you can do
No point being glum or in a huff

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Always look on the offside of life
Your team is down but you don’t need to be down
If the wind changes you don’t want to be stuck with a frown
We’re right in the do
do do do do do do

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Don’t try blaming the officials
You won’t find it beneficial
Don’t sack the manager or abuse the board
All you had to do, was get a goal or two
Think where you could be if you’d just scored…

Notes

With thanks to Eric Idle for the ‘ear worm’ song which inspired this poem.

Norwich City scored a goal in the Premier League once every 122 minutes.

Forthcoming poems are surely: It’s A Long Way to Rotherham and Wet Wednesday night in Wigan…

Editor’s note:

We look forward to them!

Or how about (as an ex-Griffen Park frequentee)…..

The Bees bring us to our knees! 😉
