The Old Chicken Run

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It was a made of old beer crates and corrugated tin
And only true cockneys were ever let in
A rickerty old fortress fronted by turf
But to Hammers supporters it was heaven on earth
And every so often a rivet would pop
When Spurs made a visit… or a team at the top
Long before seating and all ticket games
When you knew those around you and even their names
Dockers and barrow boys and those on the dole
Cheering together with each blessed goal
And many a young man with east London pride
Joined in our anthem and swayed side by side
Fond memories remain from battles we’ve won
But alas not the walls of the old Chicken Run
