The Older Fan’s Lament

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Oh, where is the kid who kicks cans in the street
With chalk on a wall for a goal?
He’s playing Playstations
With friends and relations,
Improving his finger control.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Oh, where is the man in his cloth cap and clogs
Who lives for the Saturday match?
He’s scratching his belly
In front of the telly,
Or digging his vegetable patch.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Oh, where is the player who will not take a dive,
But relies on sheer skill and endeavour?
He’s in the reserves,
As his madness deserves,
And he’ll probably stay there for ever.
