1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 To be content with life is your perdition –
there must be something wrong within your make-up.
Staying with one club shows no ambition.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 To strive for glory has to be your mission –
the call goes out. Behold the massive take up.
To be content with life is your perdition.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The race for riches has its own volition.
The cream alone will be there at the shake up.
Staying with one club shows no ambition.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 For dreams to come to natural fruition,
the tablets headed ‘Loyalty’ must break up-
contentment with your life is your perdition.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The path to fame is bloodied with attrition
but those who stay with Workington or Bacup
must realise they’re lacking in ambition.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Chase the gold! Go ask the statistician
about the accusations they will rake up.
To be content, they say, is your perdition
and staying with one club shows no ambition.

Attempting to rebut the myth – probably not too successfully – that you can’t be a great player unless you play for a big club. My apologies for the use of the taboo word ‘Loyalty.’u
