The Player

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Kick off’s here in autumn sun
Primed and ready warm up’s done
It’s time to work the talking’s over
Ball is rolling boot on leather
Run turn bluff hustle
Left right stretch muscle
Rough turf blades grip
Heavy tackle clumsy trip
Big defender stands up tall
Long clearance heads the ball
Lose your marker run out wide
Meet a pass and cut inside
Guide the ball towards the goal
Drop back deeper in the hole
Half time whistle dripping sweat
Haven’t got it right just yet
Second half keep it going
More possession pressure growing
Chase harry hustle more
Find the space to make the score
Fouls are harder knocks are stronger
Aching muscles must last longer
Fresh young sub running hard
Working for that extra yard
Fans on sidelines urge the win
Defenders tire we’re moving in
Free kick whipped in to the box
Net is bulging stadium rocks
Final whistle points are won
Gaffer’s happy job well done
Aches and pains bumps and bruises
Only hurt when the team loses
A well earned win will dull the pain
We’re back next week to go again
