The pub or home ?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Went to the pub to watch the match
but hardly saw a thing at all
the boozer was packed to the rafters
but not all wanted to view the football.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The jukebox was blasting out tunes
and some lads were even playing Pool
a few regulars were playing darts
while a drunk bloke kept falling off his stool.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 It took ages to get served at the bar
and impossible to get hold of a seat
then when the Swedes took the lead
all the pub shouted we’re going to get beat.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But England managed to win it in the end
just a pity I hardly saw a single shot
so do I watch the next match at home
or in the pub that’s noisy, full, and hot ?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But wherever I decide to watch the next game
as I’m still undecided as to what I should do
the only thing that really matters right now
is that the Three Lions play well and get through.

Notes

I’d love to find out what other poets on the site think about this question, where’s the best place to watch a match on the telly, at a pub or at home ?

The atmosphere in a bar can make up for not seeing much of the game, but if you’re in the comfort of your own living room you don’t miss a thing.

My Son has arranged to meet up for the Ukraine game in a pub, I just hope he can get us a couple of seats near the screen this time !
