The return of Jonny Challinor

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When you looked into the East Bank
You shouldn’t have feigned your surprise
Where once we sung your praises
Now we just loathe and despise

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 You may have followed the money
Turned your back and said adieu
But fans that once sung your name
Still bleed that same Red n Blue

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Now you add insult to injury
Saying you moved to a bigger and better club
You twisted the knife around and then
The salt into the wounds you rub

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 So we sung “**** off Jonny Challinor!”
Maybe you should have been warned
That you had no God-given pedestal
Hell hath no fury like the East Bank scorned

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So come the end of the season
We’ll see who is going up or staying down
Jonny, you might well be laughing
But my money is on Aldershot Town

Notes

Aldershot Town’s former favourite son returned to the Rec with his new club Exeter on 2nd Jan 2006. The reception he got was hostile due to an article in the Times, where he stated he had joined “a bigger and better club”. As you can imagine the Shots supporters in the East Bank Stand were not amused and let their feelings known. The Shots won 1-0 for the record.
Football in the Conference is every bit as passionate as the Premiership, if not more so!
