The Return to Europe

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 For six long years we’d been away
Because of the Hysel ban
And things looked grim early on
For every Liverpool fan.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A 2-0 defeat, we suffered in France
At the mercy of Auxerre
But once home at Anfield we regained some pride
And won 3-0 which was rare!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 For players were injured and foreign rules imposed
So our second team we had to play
With Anfield half full we weren’t expected to win
But the fans enjoyed a winning way.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 With a Jan Molby penalty and a Mike Marsh strike
Just before the break
We enjoyed the win and went berserk
Mark Walters, the goal, for the take.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So now we where back in Europe
Where we so longed to stay
But later on Genoa sadly beat us
Oh well, there’s another day!
