1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 They say it’s lost it’s sparkle
And it’s not like it used to be
When the Davids fought the Goliaths
In the quest to get to Wembley.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Even for a credit crunch and recession
The attendances were a bit low
But the “lowly” still found the money
Such as the fans of Southend and Barrow.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 So to some the magic is still there
It can still be a great day out
And with icy winds and dodgy pitches
The minnows are always in with a shout.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 “The greatest cup competition in the world”
A statement we should still be proud about
So let’s not ever get rid of this tradition
Let’s not spoil the smaller clubs dreams we shout.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So good luck in all your cup matches
To you the fans of Histon, Kettering, and Torquay,
Well not so much to you the supporters at Plainmoor
Because your playing my team Coventry City !

Notes

We played Kidderminster in the third round, and they brought down over three thousand fans, though we beat them, they seemed to enjoy the day, so to me that’s the true magic of the cup !
