The Shirt !

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Thommo stood up in the Kop
A 100% red thru out
Sang the songs
Cheered the boys
He had been known to shout
How does he feel to see the shirt
That he and his idols wore before
Kissed by the lips of wannabees
Who just want more, more, more?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 John Terry came up through the ranks
As Thommo did before
When team Man Usa came calling
We politely closed the door
In days when game
Was based on foreign names
He couldn’t get a kick
Althought we’re glad he stuck around
He must have been well sick!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 So when you kiss the shirt me boys
Don’t do it so in jest
There are thousands here amongst us
In love with what’s there on yer chest
Some boys have come from inner city streets
To play for cherished home town club
So keep yer false loyalty to yerself
Don’t treat us like we’re mugs!!!

Notes

Riles me this as the poem suggests! Lots of different cases of home grown talent making it through the ranks, these are just two that come to mind at the moment.
