The Spion Kop

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 And long the time that gave it birth
Eternal there is shining
The Kop immortal graced the earth
Its faithful souls the finest
The surging boots of Billy Liddell
The strength of Rowdy Yeats
The golden goals of Sir Roger Hunt
Lit up this hallowed place

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The gospels of its greatest saint
Bill Shankly was his name
The teams he built for glory bound
Infused with The Liverpool Way
From second division to glory nights
Inter Milan and St Etienne
The Kop a sea of surging red
Roared on their chosen men

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And from those ranks came forth the sons
The Terrace Heroes shone
Joey God and Stevie G
We love them every one
Those battle cries would thrill your soul
The blood would burn and race
We’d cheer as one for Terry Mac
For Cally, Smith and Case

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Keegan just like fine red wine
Dalglish its sweetest fruit
Rush he gave his heart and goals
Aldo gave his shirt and boots
The flags and colours all found their way
To the road that led to Rome
The European Cup belonged to us
Anfield its rightful home

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The terrace gone and all replaced
But none would ever lose
The special bond that binds each one
The Reds of Liverpool
One day in spirit all will take
Their numbered seat in heaven
Each red will hold close to their soul
Their love for their Anfield 11.
