The Starlight Cup

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Two coats are best for posts.
The bar defined by stars.
The ball, a small elusive
animal at twilight.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Two kids are best for this,
this game without a name;
this thrall, this all-consuming
spell of moonlight.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Hours are devoured.
Dark is the park.
In a blink the Sink estate
fades from view.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Sounds are muffled,
baffled in the lee of trees.
Only one stark bark
pierces through.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The Dream Team plays deep
into the night; no fright
will scare them aware,
shake their belief

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 that there’s no relegation
from imagination-
nothing in the street can beat
this wakeful sleep.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The prize they win tonight
is theirs to keep.
