The Tannoy Barks……

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The match is at a crucial point
The young lads face is kinda gaunt
His team are on the bottom rung
The trapdoors open, but it’s shunned

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The fans are kicking every ball
Every pass, disputing every call
The tannoy barks but no one hears
All hearts are holding back the fears

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Tis the last ten minutes on the clock
And his team are holding off the drop
The tannoy barks but no hears
All is worry, hope that the end is near

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 His idols to a man are strong
He kinda knew that all along
Today he finds out just how strong
As the clock seems to meander on

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The team are playing like men possessed
In soaking shirts and limbs distressed
The tannoy barks but no one hears
As a goal line clearance raises cheers

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The whistle blows the games is won
All the fans rejoice as one
The young lad sits down plain worn out
His throat is sore from cheers and shouts

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The drop avoided, hope is raised
That soon there will be better days
He looks to the empty seat where his dad was sat
He popped out to the loo but couldn’t get back

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The tannoy barks out once again
“Would …… report to the matchday office
Where his dad is waiting for him!”
The young lad smiles as he thinks of dad
But on a day like today he won’t half be mad!

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 He meets up with his dad who’s going ballistic
Bordering on going insane
He tells him ” Dad lets try to be realistic
Couldn’t you have waited till the end of the game”?
