The team in strypes

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 You can’t judge a match
By looking at the score
What you have to do
Is listen to the roar

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 You can’t judge a keeper
By the length of their dives
More by the surety
On which the team thrives

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 You can’t judge a player
By looking at their stats
You have to close your ears
To the rumblings of the prats

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 You can’t judge a ground
By the measure of its size
But more by the passion
And pleasure of its pies

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 You can’t judge a ref
By the issuance of cards
More by the colour
Of the language of the bards!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 You can’t judge our sport
If not loved by all
For it’s the most fun you can have
Anywhere with a ball

Notes

Inspired after listening to the next big band to come out of Ireland – the Strypes.

Unbelievably, at time of writing, they’re still only 15, 16 years of age; they’re going places!

the boys rose to prominence with their cover of the Bo Diddley song “You Can’t Judge A Book By The Cover”.
