The Twenty Two Year Wait

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 To keep the truth a secret – is a scandal
We deserve to know whether we were there or not
Mrs Thatcher said there would be no cover up
And yet twenty two years have passed
And still we wait for the truth
They say patience is a virtue
But the truth is long overdue
Twenty two years of endless protests, campaigns and boycotts
To get justice and the truth of football’s biggest tragedy
And to this day the fight goes on.

Notes

It’s hard to believe that it has been twenty two years since the tragedy at Hillsborough and yet still we don’t know the truth. Hillsborough was a footballing tragedy not a Liverpool tragedy. What happened that day could have happened to anyone and I know other football fans realise this because of the amazing amount of support we have received from other fans setting up Facebook groups wanting JFT96 and also the recent e-petion campaigning for full disclosure of the Thatcher documents relating to Hillsborough. The last time I looked the count was 120,000 which means the petition will now go to the back-benchers to decide whether it will be debated in Parliament. So to all those who have signed I give you my most dearest thanks, and to all those who have not I say what are you waiting for? I can’t speak for anyone else but whenever I hear the word Hillsborough I think not of the football stadium of Shefield Wednesday, but of that fateful day back on the 15th April 1989.

Walk on with hope in your hearts – justice will come.
YNWA JFT96
