The Unromantic Football Fan

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 She said he was unromantic
a cold fish of a guy,
he much preferred football
drinking beer and having a pie.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 She said he was unromantic
wished she never became his bride,
as even on their honeymoon
he sneaked off to watch his side.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 She said he was unromantic
no compliments to her did he pay,
like when he bought her chocolates
he ate them while watching Match of the Day.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 She said he was unromantic
never took her on holiday,
spent all of their savings
on matches home and away.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 She said he was unromantic
should have married another bloke,
but he never even heard her
as he was watching his club at Stoke.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 She said he was unromantic
her feelings had been hurt,
yet he shouted down the stairs:
“Have you ironed my football shirt ?”

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 She said she was finally leaving
as he had no love in his soul,
and with eyes on the telly he replied:
“Did you see that, what a fantastic goal !”

Notes

With Valentines Day approaching I thought I’d get this in earlier. I don’t think it needs any explanation as our love for the beautiful game can get in the way of romance can’t it ?
I’m not with the missus anymore and after reading this you can probably see why !

Editor Note: Delightfully reminiscent of Fever Pitch… except no true kiss-the-badge-shirt-wearing-lifelong-fan would feel safe with someone else ironing their club shirt. Explore.
