The Winning Goal

in exchange for victory.

carrion for the crows.

a taste so bittersweet.

are the victor’s to claim.

as the game goes down to the wire,
down to the very last play,
nil to nil.

tension mounts as the teams tangle
and heroes emerge.

holding their collective breath
an eternity is captured
in a single moment.
