that I ever saw
didn’t have a fantastic build-up,
failed to win the game
and lacked any real element
of surprise

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 indeed the scoring
of the goal
was all but
inevitable

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 let none of this detract
from it’s brilliance.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It was a penalty.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Zinedine Zidane,
the world’s greatest player
stood.
No need for a run up
just two steps back
and he didn’t even look up.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The ball sailed magnificently high
Buffon was sent the wrong way
and time stood still
as the world watched
with baited breath
and saw the ball go in
off the underside of the crossbar.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Zinedine Zidane,
the world’s greatest player
scorer of the world’s greatest goal.
